Creator of Peer Adventures

Shawn Mehall

I arrived in the Hampton Roads area in 1998, via USNavy.  After my service, I looked for my purpose for a few years until I started Volunteer Firefighting in NC.  After a few years Norfolk took me on.  I currently enjoy my profession, but had to learn to not let it define who I am.  I have struggled with PTS, anger, depression, anxiety, hyper vigilance, and many more mentally tasking issues.  Once I learned I needed help, I started pursuing ways to heal my invisible wounds.  I have partaken in group backpacking trips, group motorcycle therapy, Equestrian therapy, EMDR therapy, cognitive therapy, and Peer to Peer therapy, and so much more.

No one thing worked for me, but I tried different approaches and did what worked for me and built from that.

My experience varies from riding motorcycles (cruiser & ADV), bicycles, hiking, backpacking, camping trips, kayaking, blacksmithing, fishing, golfing (not keeping score).

Outdoor adventures are my go to.

I am willing to help anyone challenge themselves on living life better, happier, fulfilling, and with others.

Being part of a community is what Americans need and is how we thrive as a society.
